Baking chocolate chip cookies in Heidelberg

The ingredients for chocolate chip cookies include the following:

  1. flour
  2. baking soda
  3. salt
  4. butter
  5. sugar
  6. brown sugar
  7. vanilla extract
  8. eggs
  9. chocolate chips
Informants had instructed me to bring vanilla extract and baking soda from the U.S. Thus, I already have these two items.

On Saturday, I walked to Penny Markt to buy the remaining items.  Because I could not find chocolate chips at Penny Markt, I bought big chocolate bars to chip them into morsels.

On Sunday, I assembled the ingredients to bake chocolate chip cookies and discovered that I forgot to buy brown sugar.

On Wednesday, I walked to Muller to buy brown sugar.  I found it in the form of cubes only.  I bought the brown sugar cubes, brought them home, put them in a Ziploc bag, hammered the cubes into smaller pieces with a sharpening steel, and used a rolling pin to break the small pieces into granules.

Yesterday, with the help of Word Lens, I discovered that the sugar that I had bought (gelier zucker) was for making fruit preserves.  After getting regular white sugar, I have all the ingredients I need.

Today I baked more than 60 chocolate chip cookies.  I left them on two plates for the students in the breakfast room around 1 p.m.

When I came home around 6 p.m., the cookies were gone.  :)
