Love locks on the Old Bridge in Heidelberg.

In China, some newly weds would climb one of the five sacred Taoist mountains to symbolically lock in their love. They would buy a lock, engrave their names or a message on the lock, tie a red ribbon to the lock, fasten the lock to a chain, and throw the key over the mountain.  The only way their marriage could be undone is by finding the key and unlocking the lock.

If couples prefer not to climb a mountain, they could fly to Paris and fasten their lock to a bridge over the Seine.
The Pont des Arts footbridge over the Seine in central Paris is known as a bridge fettered with

If couples prefer a less crowded location for their lock, I recommend the Old Bridge in Heidelberg. Below you see a love lock with Mandarin inscription on it.  This lock is secured to an iron bar on the Old Bridge of Heidelberg.

This iron bar on the Old Bridge of Heidelberg has space for at least six more love locks.

I wonder who will be the second couple to fasten their love lock here.

"Te amo" means "I love you" in Spanish.  With this type of lock, former lovers would not have to look for the key to undo the lock; they just have to remember the code.
